An excerpt from my current work in progress…Tredicino

HERE IS A SHORT EXTRACT FROM MY CURRENT WORK IN PROGRESS, A CHILDREN’S MAGICAL FANTASY NOVEL, WHICH I AM CURRENTLY HAVING EDITED, WHILE I WORK ON REWRITES AND AMENDMENTS…IT PROMISES TO BE A TRULY FANTASTIC READ FOR BOTH BOYS AND GIRLS. I STARTED WRITING THE BOOK TWENTY YEARS AGO AND INCORPORATES STORIES TOLD TO ME BY MY DAD AND STORIES I USED TO TELL MY OWN SON TOO. I HOPE YOU ENJOY IT!

“Tredicino would grip the Pegasus’ flowing mane without an ounce of fear as he led his brothers through the night sky. His face was alight with wonder as he gazed at the stars above them.

His brothers followed close by with Ferdinando just behind him on his ox. Hating being outdone by his little brother, he would try to overtake Tredicino as he wanted to be at the front, but he never quite managed it. This was partly due to the Ox not allowing him to get ahead of himself.

One occasion was exceptionally special; it was on Midsummer’s Night which was on the 21st June. This night is known to be a magical one and for example, Shakepseare has written about it. This night was indeed magical for these thirteen brothers as they listened to the cheering that came from the Ballybunion children hanging out of their open windows. They all waved with total wonder in their eyes as they watched their favourite carousel animals flying high above them, alive and animated, against a wondrous starry backdrop.

These Ballybunion children had all been to the fairground many times and ridden on these animals. They wished they could fly on them too. For the children of Ballybunion this was as good as seeing Santa with his reindeers.

To make these nights even more magical, there was never an adult in sight. The leprechauns saw to that; they spread the word to the fairies, who then sprinkled magic dust over the town to make all the adults sleep soundly.”
