Keeping the kids entertained over the summer!

While many parents look forward to the break from the school-run, ferrying back and forth between clubs and after school activities as well as assemblies and parents’ evenings, they also dread the huge expanse of the six week summer break and the “How am I going to keep the kids entertained over the summer?”.

So if you live in London here are a few ideas for you:

Children 3+:

Sleeping Beauty in the Wood – with lots of traditional puppetry, make your way to this wonderful dreamy retelling of the Brothers Grimm classic. Little Angel, London N1, until July 29th.

We’re going on a Bear Hunt – An inventive staging of Michael Rosen’s hit book. Lyric, London, W1, July 4th to September 2nd.

Dinosaur World Live – a fabulous performance of dinosaur fun. Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, London NW1, August 14th to September 9th.  

Teens:

Connections Festival – for children aged 14+ the National Theatre’s annual festival of new work performed by young people includes plays by Alice Birch and Barney Norris. Dorfman, National Theatre, London SE1, Tuesday – Saturday.

Films:

Thomas & Friends –  Big World! Big Adventures! Lots of jolly animated fun from the tank engine as it steams in! From July 20th.

Christopher Robin – an all grown up Christopher Robin bumps into is old friend Pooh Bear and he learns how to love life again. From August 17th.
